The Setting

Oxenwood itself is a picturesque hamlet surrounded by stunning walks and hiking trails. Duck Cottage is in the grounds of the owner’s home and their three glorious, unspoilt acres. You might spot a child or three collecting wild flowers in the fields, and you may come across two very well behaved dogs Meg and Dibble – but you won’t be disturbed (unless you count the odd snort from Nelly and Nora the pigs, and some happy chatter from a rabble of chickens and ducks).

The Location

Duck Cottage has superb train links to London with Hungerford station offering a direct one hour journey to London Paddington. For drivers, the Cottage is just 15 minutes from Junction 14 of the M4 and just over one hour’s drive from London Heathrow.

Things to Do

Butchers, bakers (but not quite candlemakers!) can be found just 10 minutes drive away in the pretty town of Hungerford, and the glorious market town of Marlborough, with its boutiques, delicatessens, antique shops and restaurants, is just 15 minutes away. The area’s farm shops and farmer’s markets are a favourite with our guests, and proper country pubs serving the perfect pint (as well as superb local food) are plentiful. For those looking for stunning architecture and design Highclere Castle is on the doorstep and little people are wonderfully entertained at Cobbs Farm, also just a short drive away.
